Paul Kotsoglo is a photographer and urban planner based in and working across Australia.

Paul’s first camera was delivered by Father Christmas. It was the mid 1970s and the camera was an Agfa ISO PAK C.

At the time, film came in cartridges and was sent off to be developed. People stood to attention when photographed. It took many weeks to get the 12 or 24 pictures you had shot, back from the developer. Many of them half shots and misses. If you were lucky you’d get a few gems. For Paul, many of these are still in a box at his parents place today.

Subsequent camera gear has included Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Hasselblad, Leica and DJI Drones. All equipment is purchased from local stores to support the local economy and those who put back in to the community, both professionally and economically.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I’ve been attracted to the art of images from an early age. My first inspirations included Magnum photographers with their beautiful black and whites of people, cities and events, Astronauts with the first ever photographs we saw of the moon and earth. The photographer who most drew me to photography was Peter Dombrovskis with his wilderness photography.

Today, I take in the world around me and document what I see. I combine my professional background and interest in the built environment and love of the natural environment. My enthusiasm never wanes. I never recall being tired of this wonderful journey I am so privileged to be on.
